Alas, far too many people become set in their ways as they reach adulthood. Indeed, often their biggest regret may transpire to be that they did not concentrate more at school and pass as many qualifications as they would have liked. They thought they knew the exact career path they wanted to take, whilst sitting their A' levels, and in the cold light of day, they soon realised that they had made a big mistake.
If the very idea of trekking down to your nearest job centre to search for an entirely new career fills you with dread, there are ways of changing this in the future. You are never too old to think about undertaking home study courses that would prepare you for another career path entirely.
You may even think about undertaking courses through your local college of higher education or university and this would definitely provide you with an additional social outlet in your life.
For me, I preferred the freedom and flexibility of studying at home. I had worked in the travel industry for many a year, and decided that the world of law had a real draw. So, I applied to a very well known university that deals with distance learning and never looked back.
Undertaking such courses can seem very daunting, at first. Some may require several years worth of study and this can be enough to completely dissuade you. However, take it from someone who has been there: the years do fly by and before long, you may have a diploma or degree that would be completely relevant to your new career path. Employers have tended to favour me with jobs as they like the other experience I have gained along the way.
